Surgical Cream Hair Removal for Mens

Cream / June 5, 2018

Men and women alike can now make unwanted facial or body hair a thing of the past. We use the CoolGlide laser hair removal system to deliver twenty-first century hair removal technology in our office.

WHAT IS THE COOLGLIDE LASER HAIR REMOVAL SYSTEM?

The CoolGlide laser is a high-powered Nd: YAG laser combined with a cooling handpiece. The handpiece allows the laser to deliver more powerful pulses while protecting the skin from thermal damage. The cooling effect also allows the laser to use a larger spot size, treating more hairs at the same time and making treatment quicker and more effective.

WHAT PARTS OF THE BODY CAN BE TREATED WITH LASER HAIR REMOVAL?

The CoolGlide laser can remove unwanted hair from all parts of the body including the Face, Chest, Back, Arms, Underarms, Nipples, Bikini and Legs.

DOES SKIN COLOR MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

The CoolGlide laser hair removal system is the first hair removal system FDA-approved to work on all skin types, although fair skin with dark hair responds best. Sun exposure, which bleaches hair and darkens skin, can reduce the effectiveness of treatment and should be avoided prior to treatment.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?

The number of laser hair removal treatments varies depending on a number of factors including the area to be treated, hair density, and the hair's growth cycle. Usually 2- 5 treatments are necessary each spaced 5 weeks apart.

WHAT ARE COOLGLIDE LASER TREATMENTS LIKE?

The CoolGlide laser cools and soothes the skin as it glides along. When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild stinging or pinching sensation. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically necessary. Some patients prefer a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.

AFTER TREATMENT CARE

One can return to normal activities immediately. A skin care regimen should be routinely used. The use of sunscreen on treated areas exposed is highly recommended.

WHAT ARE SIDE EFFECTS?

Short term side effects of laser hair removal may include slight reddening of the skin or local swelling. These effects typically last less than 1 hour, but, on occasion may last a few days. In rare instances there may be blistering.

HOW DOES COOLGLIDE LASER COMPARE TO OTHER HAIR REMOVAL METHODS?

Most people who have tried it consider laser hair removal among the best ways to remove hair. Traditional hair removal methods like shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams are effective, but temporary and time-intensive. Laser hair removal is relatively quick and hair removal is long-lasting and is accompanied by permanent hair reduction.

Electrolysis can be slightly more effective in achieving permanent hair loss, but it requires much more time, is relatively painful, and may be expensive to treat large areas. In fact, treatment of large areas with electrolysis may require years. In contrast, laser hair removal with CoolGlide is less painful (often described as a few rubber-band snaps, and topical anesthesia is available to for sensitive patients), and relatively quick. Laser hair removal normally requires 2- 5 treatments, spaced about 5 weeks apart.
